Arnold Nall

Founding Partner & Executive Vice President, Operations

With 30 years of experience in managerial, operational and technical roles across a diverse portfolio of assets, Arnold’s focus is to create profitable, value-adding opportunities, plan and implement successful capital programs, and optimize production. A proven and hands-on leader in the energy industry, Arnold outperforms the competition through benchmarking, calculated risk management and team member engagement.

Most recently prior to founding Forge Energy, Arnold served as Vice President of Operations for Murchison Oil & Gas, Inc., where he managed the growth of operations including capital program execution, well performance optimization, and sourcing and procurement of materials and services. He also oversaw all aspects of regulatory compliance. Among other standout projects, Arnold managed the design and completion of four horizontal wells in the Permian Basin that boasted industry top 10 percent initial production rates. Additionally, reserves grew 24 percent per year during his time at Murchison, due to a strategic shift to a more balanced oil and gas mix.

Prior to Murchison, Arnold served as the Director of Drilling and Completions for ConocoPhillips’ (COP) Mid-Continent division, where he oversaw a diverse capital program throughout the central United States. Arnold joined COP after a 21-year tenure with Burlington Resources (BR), where he held various positions ultimately serving as the General Manager of Drilling and Completions for the company’s Mid-Continent Division. In this capacity, he led the comprehensive technical development and execution of the division’s annual capital budget of more than $700 million, with 35 rigs operating in six states. Some of Arnold’s most notable achievements while with BR include the drilling and completion of five ultra-deep, high-pressure/high-temperature, corrosive gas wells in central Wyoming’s Madden Deep Unit, the drilling of more than 170 horizontal, 160-acre spaced infill wells in the world’s largest horizontal waterflood in Montana and North Dakota, and the drilling and completion of numerous multilateral horizontal wells in the Williston Basin’s Bakken Shale. Arnold was instrumental in transforming the Mid-Continent division into the highest performing operating unit within BR.

Arnold holds a Bachelor of Science in petroleum engineering from Texas Tech University. He is a member of the Society of Petroleum Engineers, American Association of Drilling Engineers and Tau Beta Pi. He is involved in various community fundraising efforts, as well as his church.
