Mark Schumann

Vice President, Operations Engineering

Mark has 25 years of industry experience primarily in the areas of operations and project management, and production and reservoir engineering. Throughout his career, Mark has consistently combined technical expertise with sound business judgment and strong team and management skills to improve operational performance and enhance asset value.

Prior to joining Forge, Mark operated his own engineering consulting and production companies, with a primary focus on operations and project management. He served as the U.S. Business Unit Manager for Enerplus Resources, USA in Denver, overseeing the team developing the 14,000 BOPD Middle Bakken Sleeping Giant Field via horizontal drilling and multi-stage fracture stimulations. He also managed the operations team for Three Rivers, a privately funded company in Austin with operations in West Texas and New Mexico covering roughly 700 properties. Of the variety of projects Mark managed in the Gulf Coast and Rockies areas, one of the more impactful was leading the team that successfully developed and implemented a plan to restore Quantum Resource Management's 3500 BOPD and 60 MMCFPD Jay Field to operations after being shut down for a process redesign to address high cost structure and operational problems associated with the gas plant. The resulting plant modifications lowered lifting costs roughly 30 percent, dramatically improved run time and added 500 BOPD of uplift through process redesign and an NGL recovery facility installation.

Before beginning his own venture, Mark served as Rockies Division Operations Manager for Anadarko Petroleum and Area Supervisor for Howell Petroleum’s Elk Basin Field and Gas Plant in Powell, Wyoming, responsible for 135 company employees and a diverse set of assets producing approximately 205 MMCFPD and 8000 BOPD. In these roles, Mark helped grow production and reduce lifting costs by restructuring the organization to improve its effectiveness and efficiency, spearheading efforts to acquire “bolt on” oil and gas gathering systems and offset properties, increasing third party NGL and gas gathering income, and implementing uplift and LOE reduction projects.

As a Senior Staff Production Engineer for Burlington Resources and Staff Reservoir Engineer for Exxon Company, USA, Mark developed technical expertise in offshore completions and secondary recovery operations and established a strong record of value creation in all the properties he supported.

He received a Bachelor of Science in petroleum engineering from the University of Texas at Austin and graduated with High Honors.
